Turkish speaking people are estimated to be around 75 million, 60 million of them live in Turkey. The Turkish language can be dated back as far as 4000 BC. The first written record is from 8th century Mongolia. By the early 1900s, 65% of the vocabulary was loanwords from other languages due to the expansion of the Ottoman Empire. The first prime minister, Atatürk proposed cleaning the language, but some loanwords simply didn’t have a Turkish equivalent. People tried to invent new words, but they were gibberish. Atatürk invented the Sun Language Theory, which says that all human languages are descendants of one proto-Turkic primal language, so loanwords were not a bad thing. He introduced the Latin alphabet, he often taught it to the people himself. Turkish can be found in two continents, but it is only spoken in one country. Saint Nicholas, the legend of Santa Claus, was burn in Turkey. The most popular Turkish words are kayak and yogurt.
